New Series: Tearing Up the Rule Book

After our time looking at Jesus as the Bread of Life, in John, the lectionary moves to Mark, and things get pretty stark. It’s pretty clear that the Jesus that Mark describes wants to tear up the rule book, and that is what Churspacious will be reflecting on from the end of August until Advent.

Here’s a sneak peak at our upcoming themes:

From the 29th of August, we will be considering ‘The Trouble with Rules’. We will be asking whether Jesus chooses ‘legalism or love?’, ‘liberation or judgement?’, ‘power or humanity?’

From the 19th of September, we will be considering ‘Innocence and Curiosity’. We will be asking whether Jesus chooses ‘greatest or least?’, ‘power or progress?’, ‘be like children or gatekeepers?’

From the 10th of October, we will be considering how to ‘Live Like This’. We will be asking whether Jesus chooses ‘holiest or neediest?’, ‘getting or giving?’, ‘enthusiasm or politeness?’

From the 31st of October we will be considering how to ‘Make Space’. We will be asking whether Jesus chooses ‘love or ritual?’, ‘justice or appearances?’, ‘actions or buildings?’
